International cooperation

CIPINA hopes to serve as a bridge in the field of international cooperation between African countries and the rest of the world in general, Switzerland in particular. The areas that could be the subject of cooperation agreements of interest to Africa are numerous and varied.

Indeed, the scientific, political, diplomatic, military, economic, cultural and humanitarian fields are areas in which Africa would benefit from establishing partnership agreements with several countries, mainly Switzerland,  which supports several humanitarian projects in Africa . CIPINA, headquartered in Lausanne and benefiting from the skills and know-how of several experts in these fields, can facilitate contact between African countries and Swiss municipalities and cantons that wish to continue to support Africa by financing development cooperation projects on the continent.

For example, the City of Lausanne supports several development cooperation projects to the tune of 350,000 francs per year, many of which concern the African continent. In 2008, the Lausanne City Council adopted a proposal from the Municipality to commit one cent per cubic meter of water sold to the people of Lausanne to participate in solidarity actions in the field of water. Mauritania, in particular the city of Nouakchott, benefits greatly from this action, among others, which has allowed Lausanne to have the label of “Commune solidaire pour l’eau”.

CIPINA will provide the authorities of Swiss municipalities and cantons with its expertise in international cooperation to  create synergies between Africa and Switzerland.
